We all know that Google (with Chrome-ium) has at least close to 90% of the browser marketshare on the internet.

Which is your primary browser on your computer?

Remember that Brave, Opera and Edge are Chromium derivatives. I consider Safari to be separate since it's Webkit and not Blink.

Retoot this to get more votes in.

Feeling sentimental, really. In just a month on #mastodon, y'all helped me rediscover the internet. This little corner of the web, this kinky, weird, compassionate and such a diverse space, where people are open, and loud, and so smart! And I want to say thanks for this to each and every one of you, from the bottom of my heart. And a special thanks to @Gargron: I hope you realize how much good you brought into this world, and how many people found meaningful connections and true home here!

Imagine a developer has a useful idea for a program. She could:

1) Forget about it
2) Develop it for personal use only
3) Release it as proprietary software
4) Release it as proprietary software, monetized through malware/tracking
5) Release it as

Here's how I'd rate the ethics of those choices:
1) fine
2) Selfish, but fine
3) A little bit good
4) Morally wrong
5) Morally good

Many FOSS folks say:
1) fine
2) fine
3) wrong
4) wrong
5) good

What's the argument for 3 being worse than 2?

A lot of my followers are cis and into software privacy/FOSS so I just want to make it crystal clear that a software dev placing limitations on its use for fascist behaviour is good and not in any way against free software, because a fundamental responsibility of the free-as-in-libre ethos is to *protect & help the oppressed*, and that is itself *in direct opposition to fascism*.

I'm now the proud owner of 4 : an x61s, an x200, an x60T and an R51 (currently disassembled until I find the right replacement LCD). Two of them were gifts and the other two I found at the flea market.

I use the x61s (with an SSD) daily and I love it.

Found a beaten-up but functional x60T at the flea market last week! I'm going to have to replace many mechanical parts (the hinge, the latch, the hdd cover, the keyboard...), but the machine works like a charm. I had always wanted one of those.

Anyone recommend a good distro for this model? I'm a nerd, so I'm trying 32-bit first, but it's giving me trouble. I just want a distro with the right drivers for the tablet and able to run , and .

Today I created a PeerTube account and uploaded a couple of videos. I don't think I'm going to post more videos to Youtube anytime soon...

That sounds awesome! I've never worked with 3D myself, but I really like the fact that has both 2D and 3D engines to choose from. This way, you can apply some of the same principles and workflows.

My best wishes with your project :) Have you posted any info or news about it somewhere?

I'm looking for recommendations of people to follow.

I'm interested in game development, visual arts, music, retro gaming, open-source stuff... mostly anything related to tech and programming and art and media.

Anyone around who uses Linux? game engine? ? Any creators or artists/enthusiasts? Let's connect!

Hi, Fosstodon! This is my first toot ❤️ I'm glad to be here.

I remember trying out Mastodon a while ago (I don't remember which instance exactly), but I didn't really get to post much and I never quite understood how the system worked. This time I'm willing to put more effort into it.

Fosstodon seems really promising. I'm also craving more meaningful and respectful interaction that the one Twitter offers...

So far I'm really loving the higher character limit for posts. 😍 Yessss.

Fosstodon is a Mastodon instance that is open to anyone who is interested in technology; particularly free & open source software.
