"video tutorial series on the #OpenRC init system..."
Hey great! Now all we need are better instructions on how to *easily* convert #systemd👹-encumbered distros such as Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, Arch, Manjaro, ...etc to OpenRC
Probably stale news by now, but here goes anyway.... #zoom meetings pedominantly in the U.S. and the U.K are hit by outage.
Check out https://techcrunch.com/2020/08/24/zoom-meetings-hit-by-outage/ and https://downdetector.com/status/zoom/map/
It really pisses me off when some #wikipedia users remove good content if it does not contain a citation when it is just a google away. In this case I have to undo their undo to place the citation to the obvious statement. I'm not sure if they are worried about removing everything under their sight or if they are just dumb.

"Are there any OS that will keep me entertained just using them?"
A few distro-hopping ppl find continuous use of the #diy #linuxfromscratch 😮 somewhat "entertaining" in a sense.

"When you experience a crash in an app you often use, do you make any effort to report the bug?"
o Nah, someone else will do it.
o Sure, always!
o What's a bug report?
Agree with Nikhil Jha here.
Another variant of the "sometimes" option suggestion that ppl actually carry out...
o Do you make any possible effort to fully identify and even *fix* what's causing the app to crash before reporting the bug?

@przemo I reported a bug once. Microsoft dox'd me, despite me reconfiguring my entire email client to avoid that happening… It literally re-wrote the headers in my email in order to insert PII.
I no longer use Microsoft as my email provider, but I haven't quite got over that.

"Please don't use link shorteners"
Why the hell not; you the Fosstodon police or something??!!🤔
Use of link shorteners makes perfect sense for making multiple 80char+ links fit well-within the 500-character limit of each Toot.
Try it, you'll see (unless you're on some sorta #powertrip 🤨)

"During these holidays I tried #antiX Linux distro which is great as it ships with #iceWM and #JWM ."
#antix is the lighterweight neighbor of #mxlinux ; both by anticapitalista (see their wiki at https://mxlinux.org/wiki/ )
antiX +'s: super lightweight, NOT systemd-based 😍
antiX -'s: better be darn certain that no other distro bsides antiX installed, b/c antiX WILL mess up other distros once it gets installed 😠
During these holidays I tried #antiX Linux distro which is great as it ships with #iceWM and #JWM . I love them .😍 Amazing! #screenshotSunday

Talk abt the U and D of #FUD https://bit.ly/2XhHVTz ; it's almost as though CNN writer Scottie Andrew is outright *discouraging* ppl from using facemasks and might have been pressured to provide DIY instructions in the first place!😬
#zoom
TechCrunch came out with a warning yesterday that Zoom’s misleading claims give its many videoconferencing users a false sense of security and privacy 😟

"Using GNU Health to help the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic"
Oh no! Yet another technological solution that's supposedly going to "help the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic" 🙄
#eff
While probably most of us in the U.S. are preoccupied with the #coronavirus pandemic as well as working-at-home on our various projects, members of Congress Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal are mounting a major campaign to threaten we citizens' online freedom of speech and security; the so-called EARN IT Act (S. 3398) 😡

"it's very tempting for people to give away their privacy for the ability to communicate with others, but the fight against data collection shouldn't stop at any point in time"
Unfortunately, the almighty #google is among the worst purveyors of data collection :(

"They say it's the law that you must participate but if you read the law, it allows them to collect the info and has no teeth for noncooperation."
Not only that, but door-to-door census employees with paper census forms now have to be VERY VERY worried about contracting the #coronavirus #COVID19 each time they visit another household 😬
Was really disappointed with Jitsi Meet since I've heard nothing but good things about it. It would have been my first choice since it's FOSS.
