Unfortunately, the almighty is among the worst purveyors of data collection :(

As much as I hate talking about work during a situation like this, it's very tempting for people to give away their privacy for the ability to communicate with others, but the fight against data collection shouldn't stop at any point in time

"They say it's the law that you must participate but if you read the law, it allows them to collect the info and has no teeth for noncooperation."

Not only that, but door-to-door census employees with paper census forms now have to be VERY VERY worried about contracting the each time they visit another household 😬

On the topic of the census, I don't participate or cooperate. I feel many of the questions are too invasive. There's really no need for this because they already know how many of us there are at the IRS. It's purely an information grab. At no time in the last century has collected information been free of abuse by bureaucrats or law enforcement. They say it's the law that you must participate but if you read the law, it allows them to collect the info and has no teeth for noncooperation.

Was really disappointed with Jitsi Meet since I've heard nothing but good things about it. It would have been my first choice since it's FOSS.

I spent 1h30 tonight testing 3 videoconferencing apps for a group of elderly people who want to keep in touch in these confinement times. The most important feature was simplicity.

- Jitsi Meet: simple and straightforward, no registration required and no software needed on PC. Unfortunately, performance was abysmal. Impossibly long lag between audio and video.
- Skype: works relatively good but requires registration
- Google Hangouts: best audio video sync, near impossible to start convo!!!

@normandc
- Jitsi, Skype, Google Hangouts

What abt zoom zoom.us/ for videoconferencing?

"US wants to incorporate China-levels of state censorship and surveillance on a free country."

Am wondering 1) if ppl realize that the authors of that US bill are craftily using online child sexual exploitation as a deliberate Red Herring bit.ly/3cWp05Q to smooth the bill's passage, and 2) if the bill's authors are relying on all the attention to so that the US public's attention is fully diverted from their bill ?? 🤔

Thanks much for the brief intro to what the video is about 😃

Also out from Reuters yesterday is the PR-spin 'China government spokesman says U.S. army might have brought virus to China' reut.rs/2IIl4aW
Wonder if the PRC's "news" release is in any way connected to ongoing attempts to fully debunk and bury the bioRxiv paper 'Uncanny similarity of unique inserts in the 2019-nCoV spike protein to HIV-1 gp120 and Gag' bit.ly/39P0KAQ ??
WT story bit.ly/2Qb9byo also refers to this bioRxiv paper

Apparently, at least two Russian-linked factories in and have been and probably will continue to target U.S. people on social media. Besides the CNN vid youtu.be/lbHI9lq0cTg , there is also yesterday's Reuters tech news story 'Facebook, Twitter remove Russia-linked accounts in Ghana targeting U.S.' reut.rs/2wVhcke
Are these NGO-posers going to twist fears of into some sort of an anti-racist ploy??😬
