@garbados @dankwraith I think it's critical to recall that open source =/= free software. This is a big reason I license most of my stuff AGPL. Yes, the code is out there for Amazon/Google/Facebook to see, but their own corporate policies require that they don't use it, and if they do, they have to give me back all their improvements.
Don't use permissive licenses and this ceases to be a problem.

After careful consideration, we have decided that this new and exciting UI will be spun out as a separate Pixelfed Labs project.
This means you will be able to self host just this UI and use it with Pixelfed, Mastodon, Pleroma and other mastodon api compatible projects much like Pinafore and Halcyon!
#TodayILearned that if you have a server with git installed and SSH access, you can use as a remote for your repositories very simply:
$ mkdir repo.git && cd repo.git
$ git init --bare
$ git remote add myserver ssh://username@myserveraddress:/path/to/repo.git
$ git push -u origin master
