Can we please, please – PLEASE! not make the nonsensical US date format month/day/year the default in applications? 🤦♂️
PRE 👏 TTY 👏 PLEASE
And to all users of that format: it makes no sense, it's counter-intuitive, it makes collaboration frustrating, it introduces inconsistencies and errors... Just stop. Please. Use international standards.
(And don't get me started on your other units of weights, volumes and distances. Bloody hell.)
Boost if I'm right.

The true #hacktoberfest challenge: submit a PR on any platform OTHER than github (@codeberg or #gitlab) and as a reward, you can boast about supporting truly open source platforms and none of that corporate surveillance crap.
I need entire children books of this kind to give to my nephews! We all need this.
The next generation will grow up with browsers and apps obfuscating the fundamental processes that guarantee our online safety. Unless provided to them by us, they will never be educated on how to stay safe online.

They ported XScreenSaver to Android. I now have some nice animated background. I choosed atlantis, it is so chilling to look at these fishes swimming in the background or the lockscreen.

In August, @peertube entered a new stage in the development of #PeerTube v3. The objective is to raise €60k so they can implement, (1) global search, (2) moderation, (3) plugins & playlists, and (4) live streaming, here's the roadmap: https://joinpeertube.org/roadmap/.
They already raised €37k which covers steps (1) and (2) and we're almost there for step (3) which is €40k.
Let's help build a decentralized alternative to #YouTube. Please boost and, if possible, donate.
Today I started to learn GO, because it sounds very interesting. But now I saw it is from Google. But it is under the BSD licence. But what if google decides to change that in future? I really try to avoid all services from google, but a programming language is not a service. Is GO bad out of the privacy/FLOSS perspective? Should I stop learning it? I'm not sure, I would be happy to hear some opinions on this topic.
greetings! i like building games and other utilities for the Linux terminal.
current projects -- minesweeper, hearts, a music player, picross.
i love reading (primarily fiction) and music (many genres).
looking forward to meeting some new people!
Recently I had a discussion with a friend, saying he doesn't care whether Google et a. got his data or not. What should they do? He would not be of interest to them.
Although I'm privacy-aware, I'm bad at such discussions. I argued with annoying advertisement, which he rejected with "I just won't pay attention to that". Fair point, though someday ads might be more intrusive.
He does not violate law, he is no activist. Arguing with corrupt governments would be a stretch. What would you say?

Hello everybody.
I tried Mastodon half a year ago, because I really liked the concept of the decentralization and I am trying to get away from the big corporations, but failed miserably, so now I am trying again. I hope this time it makes click in my head.
Somethings about me, I am a 17 year old interested in tech, linux, OSS, servers and coding. I started using linux roughly a year ago and would describe myself as a beginner to intermediate user.
So yeah, thats about it :D
