FediOnFire was a hobby project designed to showcase a firehose of public statuses across the Fediverse. Developed by Roni Laukkarinen (@rolle), it aimed to highlight the diversity of the network. Unfortunately, some community members misinterpreted and discredited the project, which led to ugly backlash and resulted in its shutdown.

@WetHat @rolle unfortunately this is every discovery project on Fediverse ever.

More recently: Fedicate was harassed and threatened by the same people into completely changing the goal of the project. It was originally made to endorse good instances and users to find easily. Now it's just another Fediverse information site.🤦‍♂️

These assholes have literally pushed me to go back to corporate social media cause if I can't find what I want to interact with, then the point of social media is lost.

@BeAware @rolle And all that harassment is pointless too because this information is public and everyone who knows ActivityPub or AT Proto can get it and use it for good or bad. I think these people are fake 'privacy activists' and hypocrites who want to ruin it for everyone.
