I just installed Xfce4 on my Ubuntu laptop (formally windows 8) and now my laptop feels quick and modern. This is why I love FOSS so much. You can't do this with Windows!

Even better, the laptop is actually usable now.

@Vandesm14 I revamped the very first laptop I ever bought which came with Windows 8 (but eventually I upgraded to 10) and I am so happy that a 6 or 7 year old laptop that I have such fond memories of can continue to be my daily driver.

@wesley Exactly. I'm really glad I took the time to learn the true basics of Linux, instead of sticking on my old idea that "Mint is the best". Once I moved out of that phase, I've been able to accomplish much more.

@Vandesm14 if xfce works well you should try the elementary live iso. Huge xfce fan myself!
