I heard of Mastodon yesterday from a tweet sent out from my RaspPi bot, telling me that Google had pulled Tusky from Play.
I considered if Google doesn't like it, then it must be worth taking a look 😁

I'm really impressed by how friendly this place is, and I look forward to contributing to discussions, and understanding what's going on 😋
@iFoss Currently I predominantly use python, Anaconda, and Jupyter Lab. Everything is easily installed and maintained via pip, and work shared via git repos.
Sure there are windows solutions, but I love the open source software and environments
@SyntaxError that’s for sharing! Also thanks for doing so even when I had so many wires in my message :p
I definitely agree! Ilike the FLOSS solutions so much ! Right note I’m learning Vim. I have not programmed in quite a while, but have it placed next. What resources have you found helpful for understanding the concepts and features of git?
Thanks for sharing!
@iFoss git is close to dns, as a dark art for me 😂
I do what I need, clone, push, pull. Beyond that I consult my colleagues and ddg
My repos, personal & corporate, are a mess and I need to follow a better practice
@iFoss I found it easier to quit smoking than Vim 🤣
I default to nano, I find it much more easy and intuitive
@SyntaxError Haha :D thanks for letting me know! I’ll make sure to find a good balance in what I use.
@redstarfish wow, I did not, thank you.
So I remember the Diaspora from years back, where would you recommend that I visit?
@SyntaxError welcome :) I knew you were from oop north as soon as I saw ‘ey up’ 😁 What part of the west coast are you on?
@danny haha West Coast, I'm from a forlorn mining village in Yorkshire, that no longer has a mine, or much else going for it
@SyntaxError are there even any mines in the UK anymore? They replaced them all with data-mining callcentres I think.
Fosstodon is an English speaking Mastodon instance that is open to anyone who is interested in technology; particularly free & open source software.
