Lots of chatter about FLOC. Just let you fine people know, Fosstodon has already applied the appropriate header and opted out of that whole πŸ’© show. πŸ‘

Side note - same goes for my personal website.

@MindOfJoe do not worry. I have yet to experiment with it, but in terms of automatic deployment tools it is one of the more attractive. Especially the fact that it is agentless is preferable! Did you know they recently also added Ansible Tower?

Terraform might be another solution I could look at for deploying systems πŸ™‚πŸ‘

@IslandUsurper just added Pantheon and LightDM to the configuration.nix, then a simple nixos rebuild. It said my storage was full but I couldn't complete a garbage collection.

I can only boot into a CLI (・・ ) ?

@dried @mike that is correct! I hope rehearsals resume on May 11th! We can't rehears together because of the awful COVID-19 🀬

@mindofjoe I do like some experimentation; the VM host is Lubuntu πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

I know how it works, but isn't really designed to be reproducible. If I customize it, there isn't really a way to push those changes to a Git instance and pull them back if my system breaks or if I want to install them on a secondary system πŸ™‚

So yesterday was the second time that my VM locked up after updating/ changing a few simple things, so that's done.

Maybe it's just me getting old, and I like the promise of , but my fault tolerance is quite low (I thought the concept of NixOS was that it was unbreakable because of its generations?).

Any ideas what I could try next? Maybe something like + ? Or / ?

@dried @mike which instrument do you play?

Put your phone on 'Do Not Disturb' is a very effective way to disconnected while still being reachable for your priority contacts πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

@mike @Mundon you got a new ePaper screen? Which one did you get and how much did it cost? πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

If I'm ever feeling lonely, I just start reading a book or working on a personal project. Someone is definitely going to need all my attention immediately then.

@thegibson not just tonight but I've been quiet for awhile now. Looking into different Linux distributions, that go off the beaten path, like NixOS and Alpine Linux πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

@kelbot too bad I need a proxy to view the gemlog πŸ˜”

anyone know how to disable the feature where music in mpd gets quiet when you open something in mpv? not sure if it's a pulse thing or what, but I really hate it

@0PT41N @sotolf just curious, but why would it matter who originated a certain language? Aren't both those languages open sourced and given to the community to further improve?

Main reason I want to learn Dart is because I want to write cross platform apps with Flutter at the frontend. Are there other serious contenders that I can look at without worrying about paying for a license? Qt/QML is only free for open source apps but not for proprietary, but Flutter isn't AFAIK πŸ€”

@barrett I haven't watched the local news in a few hours, so I don't even know if they deemed it worthy to be shown internationally. Could you give me the jest of it? πŸ€”

Do we have a modern science show for kids in the spirit of Beakman's World / Bill Nye?

@barrett he had new gun regulations proposed? πŸ€”

@selfcare I'd probably could do with a phone/tablet with an e-ink screen πŸ€”

@sotolf @0PT41N on that topic; I'd say `dart` is a modern version of `Java` πŸ€”
