This week I realised that I don't want to "backup" my wife's digital photos, but I want to "archive" them. I have a functional OpenMediaVault server running and I'm curious what would be the best way to accomplish this task?
Do I use Nextcloud, or Seafile (which is better at handling files)? Or would it be better to use iSCSI? In either case I presume that my wife has to move the photos she's done with to a specific folder, but the first two would allow global access? 🙂
I've heard that the guys from JB are in favour of Seafile, but mainly because of the large video files they handle. But I would like to use the additional features of NC as well, like contact- and calendar sync. And the server isn't very beefy so I'd like to run the least amount of services.
But the photos are very important for my wife (and some also for me), so I'd like to have a bulletproof solution. Would it be a good idea to only use Seafile for the file syncing and Nextcloud for the rest?
