Just came across this https://github.com/redhuntlabs/RedHunt-OS based on Lubuntu and could be a nice one to try for #infosec.
I would very much like to try SailfishOS, but it is only available on few devices currently. But it has the advantage over Ubuntu Touch that it actually supports Android apps (and I can't seem to persuade anyone to switch from WhatsApp).
Plasma Mobile from @kde is another hot contender on my shortlist of OSes I'd like to try on my phone.
@superruserr @RyuKurisu @stefan @kde I am using SailfishOS, yes. It does have a rather old Android emulation layer, though (compatible with Android 4.2 or some such). Signal apk works, not sure about WhatsApp.
It's an old phone (~4.5y now) but it's still getting OTA upgrades. That's something I really appreciate about Jolla.
@RyuKurisu @superruserr @kde The Planet #GeminiPDA will be delivered with a dual boot option for Sailfish (see planetcom.co.uk).
I didn't know, that Sailfish supports Android Apps. That's a strong argument for this OS.
It isn't specifically SailfishOS, but Linux. It seems more like a miniature laptop as opposed to a smartphone. But I will check it out more thoroughly 🙂
@RyuKurisu @superruserr Yes, #GeminiPDA ships with different Linux distributions, but there's a SailfishOS version, too. Look at this video (starting at 4:05):
@RyuKurisu porting Sailfish OS should be (depending on the device) relatively easy, at least I think they have documented the procedure.
@RyuKurisu actually I think the coming 3.0 version scheduled for the end of the year will have more devices than now in support.
If you are even more curious: they give out the full source code to licensees (customers just get the public part).
