Can someone confirm or deny if I get all features from #Bitwarden if I run my own sync server? I'm mainly interested in the TOTP feature #dta #daretoask
@kev that's true. But I have been thinking; if I use the integrated TOTP from Bitwarden, then I can't use TOTP to secure Bitwarden itself #conundrum ๐
Maybe I should just invest in a YubiKey ๐
@kev I'm currently using Authy, which automatically backs up my TOTP secrets so I get them back on any new device. But I "hate" relying on any proprietary solution. I can host the back-end of Bitwarden, but I can't host the back-end of Authy. That's my distinction, why I choose one service over another. I'm also trying out andOTP but it doesn't have an automated backup. andOTP (Open-source two-factor authentication App) - https://f-droid.org/app/org.shadowice.flocke.andotp
@RyuKurisu I have a Yubikey, but you can use something like Google authenticator or Authy if you want to use TOTP.
You can also have your TOTP codes within those apps outside of bitwarden if you wish. That's what I do, as a backup.
