Is there any #fediverse alternative to #LinkedIn?
The use case I'm interested in is from hiring manager perspective. How can you find people, who are open to work and have the skills you are looking for? Searching via #FediHire can be time consuming.
@RosannaSibora no dedicated server, or a way to query entirety of fediverse accounts who are looking to be hired; perhaps for the better. You are welcome to post your job description with hastag "job". You could also check the hashtag GetFediHired. There are also job aggregators which it's easy to subscribe to, and hopefully easy to post to - not part of fediverse strictly speaking, but pretty ideologically and technologically allied. Here are my job news subscriptions: https://news.decent.im/i/?a=normal&get=c_10&state=3
@doctormo put already some thoughts into this.
@derralf @autkin @doctormo @piamae @BarbNerdy @AntjeTomfohrde that’s an interesting one! Thanks for sharing!

As a job seeker I would like to have additional space to add personal recommendations from companies,
former colleagues I worked with to have a better visibility of my skills than with a stream-lined, AI generated CV
@RosannaSibora @derralf @autkin @doctormo @piamae @AntjeTomfohrde
we could source ideas, I can open a Miro board for these?
i think it should somehow depend on https://www.fediscovery.org/

@BarbNerdy good idea! Let me know in case I could help.
@autkin good to know! Thanks a lot! Not exactly what I was looking for, but still helpful!
@RosannaSibora Create a separate account for job postings? Add proper (hash)tags to it?
It seems like the Fediverse is very good at boosting honest and sincere posts they find interesting, or that they think other people may find interesting.
Just a thought, and good luck!
@RosannaSibora You might want to try to simply follow job-related hashtags. Maybe this will help.
@RosannaSibora but why not post your offer with the fedihire hashtag and let people send their candidacy ? wouldn't that work ?
@ligaturerecords @joho I experimented with that in the past and the resonance was very low. From my perspective it’s very time consuming to find an interesting posting matching your criteria (e.g. skills, location etc.). Will continue doing that in future though until we have a better fediverse solution.
@RosannaSibora i would use also hashtags for location if it's a matter of importance, but i would guess this would anyway be probably more effective for tech jobs
Currently LinkedIn is the most professionalized platform for this. That’s why Microsoft bought it.
For an alternative imho you have to start from scratch.
On the other hand here KI might be able to do a good job.
@RosannaSibora Someone recommended vutuv as an open-source alternative to me a while ago:

@shaedrich wow! It’s there! Would be interesting to find out why it didn’t take off yet. I will try to do a little research. Thanks for sharing!!!

ah, mr. wintermeyer of #OTRS fame ;) looong time ago he had a splendid talk at @clt_news
@RosannaSibora @mot has an Open To database on their website, including people who are open to work and some of their contributions to the community. It also includes people who are open to speak and write. You can find it here: https://www.ministryoftesting.com/open-to
@CassandraHL @mot that’s also an interesting one! Thanks for sharing!
