Someone just came into the Pinephone chatroom to share a "snake game"... claiming it was their first attempt at making a game.
Problem was, this was *malware*. Created using bashfuscator.

(Mirrored on decentralized Peertube. Love to make more friends there.)
@RTP this is probably one of the first pieces of malware for a Linux smart phone?
@joe I believe so. Many more to come I have no doubt! Hopefully users pay attention and we don't see too many victims.

cant see that plan going awry
@lps Absolutely. Been on peertube for a while. And there are times this account doesn't post the link here - as my peertube is also on Mastodon and so every single video I upload to Peertube is automatically posted to Mastodon as I upload it (on another account) :)
I want to see platforms like peertube be the future. :)

I couldn't agree more, but it will only happen with community support/buy in ... Unfortunately, I don't even see the large FOSS projects recognizing it, which seems to odd to me. Of any group, they should see the necessity of nurturing a much needed alternative. Even simply mirroring content goes a long way!

saw this unfolding, a few people are already working on reverse-engineering it
