A new release of RIOT, the friendly OS for the #IoT, is available: 2022.01. It adds support for #RustLang, moves many modules to the more power-efficient ZTimer, and contains Kconfig support for nearly all boards. As feared it is just a header file and compiled blob. On the upside, the Apache license applies, so decompilation may be fair game for reverse engineering.
That should make a nutcracker challenge v2 doable -- but frankly, I rather stick with vendors that publish documentation or at least commented source.
