Still drunk on the success of building the router, I set out to replace my TrueNAS server with NixOS and plain ZFS. It worked swimmingly.

The cool part is once I had it working, I just applied the same service file to a Raspberry Pi and in 10 minutes I had a file server running on mirrored thumb drives.

Automatic snapshots, ZFS mounts, a containerized Syncthing service, everything just worked first try.

God I love NixOS.
