Another release!
This one has some various improvements, bug fixes.
There are also some big changes in how the feeds are handled internally: they are now cached and should provide better performance and make the app feel smoother. Might still have some rough edges but it's a much better base upon which we can build further.

Translations (weblate.pixeldroid.org) and issue reports (GitLab or here) welcome!
With ❤️, happy holidays!
We recently did another release, check out the changelogs here: https://gitlab.shinice.net/pixeldroid/PixelDroid/-/releases
Mostly some more polishing and bug fixing.
Bigger news to be expected in the coming weeks 😉
I just published a small bugfix release, adding images was causing the upload process to fail.
We just published our 4th release, with a *lot* of changes and improvements.
Go read the changelog and get the APK here:
https://gitlab.shinice.net/pixeldroid/PixelDroid/-/releases
Send us feedback: open an issue, use the newly integrated crash report utility if you manage to make it crash, or send us a toot on here!
Also check out @ConnyDuck 's Pixelcat, which is already looking great ❤️
Yesterday we again opened our bimonthly open call for privacy and trust enhancing tech (https://nlnet.nl/PET) and projects improving open search and discovery (https://nlnet.nl/discovery) using open source software and open hardware. Do apply before December 1st (or check out the work we are funding on for example @cryptpad, @delta, @nextcloud, @EteSync, @pixelfed and more! -> https://nlnet.nl/project/
In other news, we need a new name 😢
Just like Davx5 (formerly DavDroid), we judge it too risky to keep this name, lest a certain megacorp comes knocking.
Suggestions welcome. I was thinking something to do with a red panda or its genus, since that is the Pixelfed mascot, but other ideas are also welcome!
Been doing some work on the app, trying to make the login process more robust and warning users if they're not logging in to a Pixelfed instance. Also trying to reduce technical debt somewhat.
What is the n° 1 thing you want fixed, changed or added first in PixelDroid? Answer here, or open an issue in our GitLab so we can get to it 😉
We've applied for an #nlnet grant, let's see what comes of it. If we get it, it should help us to free up substantially more time to work on the project. Development has not stopped, merely slowed down while most our contributors are busy with personal stuff for a while.
We expect another alpha release near the end of August, with mostly internal changes, and development will pick up again about mid September. We are still somewhat waiting on a lot of server-side API changes and fixes though.
Hi there! Are you an avid free software user or open source developer? NGI Zero is an R&D funding program for open source software & hardware to enhance online privacy and improve open search and discovery. Together with @fsfe, @APC, Radically Open Security, Translate House and many more we fund and support projects like @pixelfed, @delta, @cryptpad... Check it out here -> https://nlnet.nl/thema/NGIZeroDiscovery.html and here -> https://nlnet.nl/thema/NGIZeroPET.html or submit your own idea to make the internet a better place!
We finally got around to migrating to a GitLab instance. Links have been updated , GitHub
repo has been reduced to a mirror, Weblate has been switched to the new repo, CI has been reconfigured, etc.
Development will resume, and contributions are very welcome at https://gitlab.shinice.net/pixeldroid/PixelDroid
Thanks to @ShinIce for providing the hosting and helping with the migration 😃
Translators, there are a couple (I think three) new strings, and we would like to do another release tomorrow.
Notably, it has some big improvements to the upload flow performance and visual feedback, and should also have a rudimentary offline fallback mode.
In other news, rise up against tyranny, and never forget what happened 31 years ago today.
Happy 3rd birthday @Tusky

Under the GitHub releases: https://github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelDroid/releases, and on @IzzyOnDroid's F-Droid repo tomorrow.
Made another release. Some bug fixes:
the upload process now doesn't let you upload the same post 16 times by clicking the button a bunch of times 😉
buttons are visible in dark mode as well as light mode
camera works in the rtl layout!
Bio in the profile now has HTML interpreted instead of shown raw.
Some other notes: more strings are now translatable, and you can double-tap to like a post! (of course the API to like a post is still a bit broken, but that's not something we can fix)
PixelDroid announces Alpha Release
Looking for a dedicated Pixelfed app for your Android device? PixelDroid might be what you're looking for. https://wedistribute.org/2020/05/pixeldroid-announces-alpha-release/
The translation server has been so popular we have been rate limited by our email provider. No more outgoing emails until tomorrow, apparently. For any urgent matters arising due to no emails being sent, please send us an email, contact at pixeldroid.org (receiving still works) or contact us on here
We've added some strings, made images upload with some feedback as to the status of the upload, and an error message if something went wrong. New build coming soon (maybe tomorrow? Who knows 😉)
Translators: you can check out the new strings on Weblate: https://weblate.pixeldroid.org/projects/pixeldroid/pixeldroid/
FYI, if we do a release tomorrow it will be built around 18:30 CET, so any translations in by then will be included :)
