Under the GitHub releases: https://github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelDroid/releases, and on @IzzyOnDroid's F-Droid repo tomorrow.
Made another release. Some bug fixes:
the upload process now doesn't let you upload the same post 16 times by clicking the button a bunch of times 😉
buttons are visible in dark mode as well as light mode
camera works in the rtl layout!
Bio in the profile now has HTML interpreted instead of shown raw.
Some other notes: more strings are now translatable, and you can double-tap to like a post! (of course the API to like a post is still a bit broken, but that's not something we can fix)
PixelDroid announces Alpha Release
Looking for a dedicated Pixelfed app for your Android device? PixelDroid might be what you're looking for. https://wedistribute.org/2020/05/pixeldroid-announces-alpha-release/
The translation server has been so popular we have been rate limited by our email provider. No more outgoing emails until tomorrow, apparently. For any urgent matters arising due to no emails being sent, please send us an email, contact at pixeldroid.org (receiving still works) or contact us on here
We've added some strings, made images upload with some feedback as to the status of the upload, and an error message if something went wrong. New build coming soon (maybe tomorrow? Who knows 😉)
Translators: you can check out the new strings on Weblate: https://weblate.pixeldroid.org/projects/pixeldroid/pixeldroid/
FYI, if we do a release tomorrow it will be built around 18:30 CET, so any translations in by then will be included :)
You can now get the alpha build from @IzzyOnDroid 's repo: https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/apk/com.h.pixeldroid
It's the same apk as in the GitHub releases, but it's a convenient way of getting the latest version until we get to a 1.0 release!
Since a lot of text was changed in a recently merged PR, new translations are available on the weblate instance: https://weblate.pixeldroid.org
Expect translations to be incomplete in the release's APK because of this.
🎉 The fediverse is 12 years old, so we decided to celebrate (slightly late) by doing an alpha release.
You can check it out at https://github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelDroid/releases, make sure to read what is broken and why, so that we keep the bug reports to things we don't know about and that are under our control.
@IzzyOnDroid has said he will host it on his F-Droid repo, and we will also start the process with the main @fdroidorg repo.
Tell us what you think!
🎉 Happy 12th Birthday, #Fediverse
It's great that you don't put all your eggs in one basket ;) Stay cool.

✔ idea to not let this day pass unnoticed - by @titi
Our CI can't run on the GitLab shared runners (Android VM needs hardware acceleration enabled), and my poor little home server can only do one build at once (and often we have 10 builds in the queue since we end up working at the same time).
Would someone be able to run a GitLab runner on their server or PC? This would help us reduce wait times when working on PRs.
Thanks all for the very impressive welcome, and thanks to the people who already translated the app into 3 other languages 😱. I love the fediverse!
We will do an alpha release soon. Not giving any dates, because that will just bite me when we don't meet the deadline, but soon ™️
If you want to help with translation, that can already be done on https://weblate.pixeldroid.org, although a lot of strings are not translatable yet (PR fixing that in the works)
Hello there!
I took some time to make a quick video of our upcoming Pixelfed Android client, we will make an alpha release soon ™️
https://peertube.linuxrocks.online/videos/watch/7623416a-7490-4774-91c4-6d08a9998117
You can of course already go take a look at the source code and compile it for yourself, for now hosted on GitHub but that will change soon: https://github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelDroid/
Still a lot of work to be done, but it's slowly getting there :)
