I guess I'm going for while I'm writing then 😅

Thanks a lot for the help, fediverse.

A little poll:
I want my image to upload:

You can now get the alpha build from @IzzyOnDroid 's repo: apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/a

It's the same apk as in the GitHub releases, but it's a convenient way of getting the latest version until we get to a 1.0 release!

Since a lot of text was changed in a recently merged PR, new translations are available on the weblate instance: weblate.pixeldroid.org

Expect translations to be incomplete in the release's APK because of this.

🎉 The fediverse is 12 years old, so we decided to celebrate (slightly late) by doing an alpha release.

You can check it out at github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelD, make sure to read what is broken and why, so that we keep the bug reports to things we don't know about and that are under our control.

@IzzyOnDroid has said he will host it on his F-Droid repo, and we will also start the process with the main @fdroidorg repo.

Tell us what you think!

🎉 Happy 12th Birthday, #Fediverse

It's great that you don't put all your eggs in one basket ;) Stay cool.

Oh boy, people are contributing Arabic to the translations. I guess we'll see how well RTL works in the app 😅

I never would have dreamt of such an amazing response though, thank you so much 😍

(I am a bit sad no-one replied "General Kenobi" to the first toot though)

Our CI can't run on the GitLab shared runners (Android VM needs hardware acceleration enabled), and my poor little home server can only do one build at once (and often we have 10 builds in the queue since we end up working at the same time).

Would someone be able to run a GitLab runner on their server or PC? This would help us reduce wait times when working on PRs.

Thanks all for the very impressive welcome, and thanks to the people who already translated the app into 3 other languages 😱. I love the fediverse!

We will do an alpha release soon. Not giving any dates, because that will just bite me when we don't meet the deadline, but soon ™️

If you want to help with translation, that can already be done on weblate.pixeldroid.org, although a lot of strings are not translatable yet (PR fixing that in the works)

Hello there!

I took some time to make a quick video of our upcoming Pixelfed Android client, we will make an alpha release soon ™️

You can of course already go take a look at the source code and compile it for yourself, for now hosted on GitHub but that will change soon: github.com/H-PixelDroid/PixelD

Still a lot of work to be done, but it's slowly getting there :)
