> But thanks to an active development community, PinePhone battery life is getting better all the time. Now developer Megi, who maintains a custom Linux kernel optimized for Pine64’s Linux phone, says the latest versions offer support for up to 6 days of standby or idle time.

😮

@EffToyz

That's awesome. (Reading the article now) Even if that's just standby that's a great improvement. @PINE64

@PINE64 basically this is one of my two issues with pine phone - stand by time and no signal messenger. Now I need some nice fork of Signal to run on ARM linux and I am all set.

@rholb @PINE64 I didn't even know about that. How safe it is? I've heard Moxie doesn't really love side clients.

@EffToyz

Yhea he like centralization but I don't see them building a client for the few of us out there. From what I understood it's a rewrite/port of the android client.

Not sure about security. I would assume that sent/received are as secure as any signal text but stored message probably not.

@PINE64

@PINE64 Great. Does this improve battery performance also when not putting the phone to sleep? I need to e able to get notificatoins from my chats and email but it seems so wasteful to keep the entire system running for just this and my phone does not even last half a day atm.
