@PINE64
It's disappointing that you're not investing in #riscv :(

@mark
Pine64 works with already exsiting electronic components. Risc-v is making progress with new chips being developed like the polarflare. Pine64 is already createing the pinecil which uses a risc-v processor. So in fact @PINE64 is investing (through purchased parts) in risc-v, just in a small way to start. Once those more powerful chips are a being produced, I'm sure pine64 will start making more products with risc-v processors. The pinecil is a good way for pine64 to get their feet and the community's feet wet with the hardware and software for risc-v.

Great job @PINE64 ! Keep at it! You'll get there soon enough -- just not soon enough for all of us (myself, @mark , and others) craving risc-v machines.

@wildeagle5
They're just forking out a shed-load of money in license fees and royalties in order to get [short term] access to the good stuff. :(

It's questionable whether they actually need to.

@PINE64

Did you see SiFive's pre-announcement of a #RISCV chip [the FU740 - based on the fully ratified version of the RVV spec] that "will enable RISC-V PCs"? It's said to be as capable as a RPi4!

@mark
Yes. I did see that. Very promising for creating a future for RISC-V that is not just for embeded devices. It will still take time, but I'm excited.

@PINE64
I appreciate all you do. We'll all be waiting for when you feel the technology is good enough to start making SBC.
