WOW!!!!!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR:)
A search engine for #peertube
"PeerTube Index is a centralized search engine for PeerTube videos. We run a crawler that visits PeerTube instances to find videos and new instances. All found videos are made searchable by their name. We exclude videos marked as Not Safe For Work (NSFW) for now.
This site is not affiliated to Framasoft, the maintainer of the PeerTube software. "
@LPS enfin !! Merci.
Thanks for sharing @LPS !!! This is great!
@unicornfarts Amazing right?!
@LPS Truly excellent
@unicornfarts Thanks to this, I'm now able to search for content then use the url results to add via the fediverse search in my single-user peertube instance. I now have an aggregate view of all my followed content in one place without all the other crap that comes with over jealous "free speech"
I just mean the extreme crap.
@LPS Now I must try to fit in setting up a peertube instance as part of my selfhost-all-the-things project. Ugh. I can't afford all the vps space. Going to have to move to a house that has better net access.
@unicornfarts yeah, my internet connection is not too fast but not slow - 50mbps and best of all no data cap. Which allows me to host everything at home from an old PC. I sound like a broken record but, yunohost is the best and easiest solution for all things self-hosted.
@LPS do you have its source code link?
@spla no but take a look on the site for more info https://peertube-index.net/about This would be incredible if it were used within an app such as thorium.
@LPS I see, thanks. Just that I would like to see that “crawler” code
@spla you may be able to reach out to @chocobuzz (peertube developer) he'd likely have a better idea of who's behind this, I think.
@hairylarry that's great, more people need to know it exists:)
@hairylarry I'm happy to report that there is no need for instances to be included on public lists. I just found a channel that I'm not even able to follow via global search:) Of course private videos remain private but public videos can be found.
Framasoft will be delighted to kmow this.. After they started supporting global search, they mentioned they want to make a website like this. But they'll also make it free software so that others can make such indexing websites too.
@redstarfish I agree, I stumbled on this by a lucky DDG search for peertube index when setting up global search on my instance...I couldn't believe it:)
@farhan hopefully, this will inspire some solutions for other projects:)
@LPS And Framasoft developed https://sepiasearch.org/
Please boost, more people need to know about this!
This is one of the biggest critiques when peertube is compared to youtube, discoverability. This solves that issue:) In addition once you find creators, you can subscribe via the new fedi seach on your local instance.
