@BalooUriza Hum, no. Not at all. Chrome is the new IE, imposing its own standards to the industry, and above all Google is way more dangerous than Microsoft...

"Facebook scans system libraries from their Android app user’s phone in the background and uploads them to their server

This is called "Global Library Collector" at Facebook, known as "GLC" in app’s code

It periodically uploads metadata of system libraries to the server"

Facebook nutzt wirklich JEDE Möglichkeit, den Nutzer zu tracken bzw. zu identifizieren. Oder anders: Was technisch möglich, wird auch gemacht.

South Korea is planning Linux migration as Windows 7 support ends.

The interior ministry will begin test-running Linux on its PCs. if no issues arise, Linux systems will be introduced more widely within the government.

They don't mention any specific distro such as Ubuntu, yet in future "hope to avoid building reliance on a single operating system" which the case is now with Win7.

Linux ecosystem is flexible / adaptive.

Windows is getting a Microsoft built Linux kernel as a shipped component in windows.

Interesting fact! Did you know the phrase "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish" was used by Microsoft internally to describe their strategy for gaining control of non-proprietary software/standards and stifling competition? Now you do!

Smooches!

:firefox: After seeing how CSS and JS can track your mouse movements I decided to compile myself. I commented out two lines to disable all CSS hover and HTML/JS onmouse(enter, leave) events. Pretty neat! Although I have no way to turn it back on for those sweet Wikipedia page previews... I hope I can figure out how to make it a per page option.

Microsoft has released their new Terminal application to GitHub, marketing it as another demonstration of their commitment to "open source". While the project is MIT licensed, did you know it is inextricably linked and dependent upon numerous proprietary SDK tools, headers, and the Visual C++ ATL.

Do not be fooled, see through the mirage of feigned support to undermine and sabotage the original ethics of the free software movement!

Microsoft insisted that EdgeHTML was much better than Chromium years ago, but now it uses Chromium for Edge.

Microsoft insisted that a syscall translation layer was much more efficient than running a VM, but now it has decided to ship a normal Linux kernel inside a "lightweight" VM.

It sounds to me just as if Microsoft is about to fire a huge bunch of actually competent core developers and keep only UI designers, UI coders and their lawyers. It's not about how Microsoft loves open-source, it's more likely just that they want to cut down the cost on these developers so that they don't need to pay as much people to keep their product running. They would like to take things free from the FOSS community.

Let's see how things would go for them.
