The problem with electron is that it wastes a lot of system resources.
An electron app is essentially a website/web app bundled with its own browser window.
Each electron app has a chromium instance at its base. When you run multiple electron based apps, resource usage quickly adds up, which is why electron based stuff is generally frowned up.

Vox and The Atlantic are the only good ones that still provide full, ad free feeds.
For others, FreshRSS has an option to scrape content from the websites. Not ideal for sites with huge content, but it works.
Most news sites these days truncate their #RSS feeds but then there are these intelligent folks at CNN which not only omit everything of use, but are actively hostile against RSS users.
All of their feeds contain a single sentence and 10+ copies of the SAME image, in different resolutions. They force you to download a useless image multiple times.
This is definitely intentional. They are trying to bloat up your feed aggregator.
