Per IT tradition, my colleague and I are in the smallest room on the floor. There's 2 desks, a storage cabinet, equipment everywhere, stuff on the walls, a small aisle to get to my desk and a window. Multiple times a day we have people sitting next to us, adding to the claustrophobia. It's been making me nauseous. Today I'm staying home. I never considered how much of an impact an office can have on mental health.
Thank god our move request, causing 3 other room swaps, has just been approved.
@jordan31 sort of. I guess I should already be grateful that we have a window. I've been to other organisations where IT was literally stuffed in a basement.
@Gina oh that sucks. I kind of like seeing outside.
@Gina
I also work in an IT department and we are in a similar situation. We have 7 people sharing 2 small windowless offices with barely enough room to walk between desks. I hope your new room is an improvement.
@dallin oh god, windowless. That's insane.
@Gina
Thankfully, I was able to persuade the powers that be to allow me to work from home 2 days a week.
@Gina so its like initiation into the it ?
