Did a parametric construction of a machine cubicle and a compressor silencer box for a CNC milling machine.
Sorry, the project is not cleaned up yet ...
I just fired up #FreeCAD daily (based on current 0.20 development) for the first time in weeks. There are already notable improvements that will make it hard for me to stick with the recently released 0.19.1! 😁
* The navigation cube now has visible edges. Previously it didn't, and it made it impossible to distinguish over a white or light background (my preference).
* Sketcher Trim tool now works on all sketch elements, including B-splines.
#FreeCAD 0.20 Development
The Part Design workbench's Hole feature can now model a true thread. Both metric and UTS thread profiles are available, with detailed options. Very cool!
Beware that this makes the feature heavier and much longer to compute.
...Yet, some of it is understandable by mere mortals like me. 😄
His blog reminds me of Roman Lygin's old blog, another former OCC developer and now lead dev of CAD Exchanger. I used to read his posts a decade ago, and while I understood only part of them, it gave me very valuable insights on CAD inner workings that years of using CAD professionally never gave me. There is a glaring void in all the CAD learning materials I've ever come across, and such blogs are useful to fill in the gaps.
I learned of Open Cascade's GSoC 2021 participation through the blog of Quaoar, named Manifold Geometry (cool name!).
Quaoar is a former Open Cascade developer who worked there for twelve years and is now a freelancer. To date, I believe he is the only OCC developer who participated to the #FreeCAD forum.
To any CAD user interested in the inner workings of CAD, his blog is a very interesting read. Of course much of it goes way over my head...
It seems that Open Cascade (OCC) will participate this year in the Google Summer of Code. While I'm no fan of Google's practices, I guess GSoC remains a beneficial initiative to the FLOSS community.
One of the projects they would like a student to take on is push/pull editing. Having this directly baked into the geometric kernel would be tremendously useful to #FreeCAD and other projects that rely on OCC for B-Rep geometry creation.

And the hotkey chart to boot:
(sorry about the YT clip)
Und wieder was in @FreeCAD nachgebaut.
