Hi there!
Happy to join mastodon and one of the FOSS communities. I’m a Python developer. I probably won’t toot on a regular basis but that might happen 🤷🏻♂️
I go by he/him.
See you!
I was up late last night, wired on Red Bull and vodka, and wrote this response to @kev's post on #javascript not being so bad.
https://www.matthewgraybosch.com/2021/03/04/javascript-as-a-last-resort/
TL;DR: I prefer to use JS as a last resort, when less potentially invasive technologies aren't enough to get the job done.
The nine-footed alien invaders were thorough. Their soldiers ambulated into every factory, every office building, every home.
Then they stopped. Soldiers reported horrifying traps laid on the floors of homes. After tallying their losses they gave up, cursing Earth and its Lego.

Hey there @kev @mike 👋 Would it be possible to add some emojis to our current list? I'm thinking of Docker. Here's the official logos list: https://www.docker.com/company/newsroom/media-resources but IMO only the "Docker Moby Logo Color" is really usable as an emoji.
There's also the favicon of this very website which I think could look great! 😊
TIL that `chown` can drastically increase your #docker image size. Here's why and how to work around this issue: https://gabnotes.org/chowning-files-dockerfile-can-take-lot-space/
After long, hard work, the message we intercepted from space was decoded:
"We apologize for being silent three millennia. We are still here."
Fifteen years later another message was caught, going the other way:
"We are always glad to hear from you, no matter how long it takes."

I wrote a thing about #JavaScript and why it may not actually be all that bad...

@Crocmagnon No problem 😉, We are part of a great community and the one thing we are great at is helping one another 😁

I just finished moving the storage on my NAS to SSDs! My blog and other services should be back up now 😊
It was mostly a pleasant experience, except for the long VM backup time 👌🏻
#proxmox for the win!
In between “real” work, I’ve been hacking on a tiny but satisfying side project: a hybrid native + web app for Plausible Analytics! https://github.com/cassidyjames/plausible
You want to test your willpower? You may think you have what it takes but do not attempt this if you aren't strong of mind.
Bake a fresh a loaf of bread (any bread but this banana oat that just came out of my bread machine inspired this) and try not to eat half of it the second it's cool enough to touch.
It’s so much better for the environment to crack open a misbehaving gadget or appliance to repair it than to throw it away and buy a new one. Most of the time it’s straightforward enough to figure out on your own, or there are online guides of others who have done the same repair
@tootapp hey there! Did you get a chance to reproduce this bug? 😊
It still happens with the latest version of the app.
Job interview for a stage
Today I had different job interview for the stage that I’ll do with school, at some point one man asked me “Do you know how to use Linux?” And I was “Yeah sure it’s my main OS” he was like “D: ok for me your hired” Than when he asked “and do you use the terminal” I answered “Yeah, I also use vim as main text editor for quick editing or editing files in a VPS”, and again he was like “DD: ok 10 more point for you haha”. That was funny
"So you are the last dragon?" the knight asked.
"There is a last of everything."
"But was there no mate, or-"
"Mate?" The dragon laughed. "You think we mate? No. Dragons are born from cats."
"Cats?"
"If a cat is ambitious enough, and works very hard, it is reborn a dragon."
"Oh."
