Which linux PC/laptop company?

ConEng boosted

@Coneng Well, it's not fully FOSS, it's stuck on Qt 5.6, it's written for Libhybris and parts of it (namely the email app) still don't render anything on a Mesa stack, ... I like Sailfish OS a lot (see linmob.net/videos/#sailfish-os), but there's more than one issue to not be like "Yeah, let's use this, it's perfect."

While the FSF is committed to ongoing improvements to governance (see u.fsf.org/3bi), we're going to resume using this space for free software news. We hope to be able to announce increased transparency and positive changes soon. Thank you for your patience.

With every coming year, the threat of nonfree software grows, and that's why every donation to the FSF is precious. #ThankGNU to the Aqua Hill Foundation and the Aram Rae Family for your generosity! u.fsf.org/398

the news about #mozilla elicits 2 thoughts in me

the first one is we should get used to pay for #freesofware

we say free as in freedom, not as in beer and we should put our money where our mouths are

I sent 6 euros in 2 years to the #Wikimedia foundation

We should do the same with #Gnome and other resources

Not the kernel because that one is well covered by evil corps

The second hought is... (continues)

ConEng boosted

the second thought is that the panorama is getting more and more complicated

the web of relationships between organizations and trends in tech is really hard to navigate

We'd need some graphs of who funds what in FLOSS

Whi funds the kernel and how much, who funds the gcc and how much, who funds Rust and how much, who funds Gnome and how much, who funds the browser and how much

etc...

without knowing what's going on it's hard to decide what you want to contribute to

If you use Google services despite having free (as freedom) alternatives, please don't claim to be a supporter of or "open" software. It is not elitist to support freedom movement and the right to be in control of the software you use.
