@Coneng @kriive @be @kev @lord But it IS also about elitism and gatekeeping.

See, @be dismissed Linux For Everyone out of hand just because we use Discord. Maybe they don't know that I also introduced literally millions of people to Linux at Forbes, or that hundreds have made the switch because of my videos on another proprietary platform, YouTube.

Or that, in general, it's just a great community!

Nope. None of that matters because we aren't 100% FOSS.....

Libre Speed Test

librespeed.org

The page says "Free and Open Source Speedtest. No Flash, No Java, No Websocket, No Bullshit." and this is the better replacement to SpeedTestdotNet.

I know this one from @selea and @snopyta.

@Coneng I agree, and I even think it is important that universities train people to use relevant proprietary software.

If my employer wants me to make wrenches on a CNC milling machine running Windows XP then I'll make wrenches on that setup because it's my job - just like some mechanic will have to use them to fix cars or whatever with no care or thought about what software was used to make them. You can accept the tools you get or not have a job, that's how the real world works.

I keep business accounts using plain text accounting. Recently I needed to report my year-end annual accounts to the UK's inland revenue branch (HMRC).

Here are some notes on how I used Ledger (CLI accounting program) to export the information to allow my non-technical accountant to compile and submit the formal accounts: wilw.dev/blog/2021/04/18/busin
