DigitalOcean is hosting another Hacktober fest, giving away free t-shirt to those who make pull requests to any open source project.

Hacktober fest is only a corporate-sponsored spam fest that gets abused by people who wants everything that's free, even though they don't need it.

The creation of one t-shirt uses 4.5 kg CO2e, 0.8 kg chemicals and about 2600 liters of water.

then you have failed.

I feel bad for all new hires during this COVID-19 crisis, they don't know who will be friendly or who is jobless enough to chat on random topics and have fun.

Let's try making them feel at home.

Sometimes I just want to dramatically come out and say "I QUIT" and walk away...

But I don't think it'll be the way I imagine in my head since our daily stand-up is done in an audio conference :/

Yeah, I know... But we can push it as much as we can. at least a few will learn about free software…

I Just got to know that is planning on developing an App store for their own use.

There is no way for it to end well.

Why not use @fdroidorg or fork a version of it with the same philosophy?

A year and half ago I made a toot on something called open-brain-internet-thingy. I wrote an article about it then in LinkedIn, I think it's about time to re-visit the topic and improve the article.
