Hello everyone. I've been an user and enthusiast for nearly ten years. I don't work in tech so unfortunately I have no real life friends who share my interest in .

I'm currently trying to get better at and as I transition away from using Excel/VBA for data analysis at work.

My other interests include .

@AppleStrudelMan welcome to Fosstodon. I'm sure you will find plenty of people here to chat about Foss with. 😊

@AppleStrudelMan I work in tech, but most of my friends are deaf to FOSS.

@AppleStrudelMan welcome, fellow data person! I should check out how work sometime, I'm probably too focussed on at the moment :)

@AppleStrudelMan I've been trying to incorporate Python with pandas and xlwings in my work to get away from so much Excel at my work as well! I'm in the middle of writing up a blog post with my experiences so far to help out others who may be interested in doing the same.

@applestrudelman Hi, welcome to the freedom of a federated network! I'm running my own instance of a federated network, and am happy to see when others join!

@AppleStrudelMan HI and Welcome to :)
I"m also FOSS curious and a non-developer:( I can't tell you how many eye rolls I get on a daily basis whenever I go on rants about it.. ha ha. Great to see I'm not alone.

@LPS I always get weird looks when I try to explain why I use Linux.

@AppleStrudelMan Me too:( Not sure if you follow but he/she (not sure) posts some really great alternatives to corporate software. Point the nay sayers there:)

@mpjgregoire I work with financial data. I mostly use Python for automating mundane daily reporting. I'm hoping I can find a job where I can do some more interesting data analysis one day.

I currently write my code in Spyder. I've been meaning to try Jupyter. It looks like it would be good for ad-hoc analysis and testing new ideas.
