Almost 9 years after our very first tweet announcing the creation of the project, we're now happy to publish our very first toot
We are an international team of contributors of code and otherwise. Together we work on the the most popular open source podcast app for Android. And we would love to get you on board 👉 https://antennapod.org/contribute
What we like to do in our spare time? Listening to podcasts!
@AntennaPod 👋 Welcome to Mastodon! It's good to see you here. I share the opinion of the others who greatly enjoy your app. Thanks for your work. 🙂
What do you plan on posting on your new profile?
Thank you! Similar things to what we post on Twitter (community updates, new releases, project news) mixed in with some more nerdy (technical) stuff. But if you have suggestions (for what you'd like to see in our feed), please let us know!
@AntennaPod Wait, you werent here already? I cant believe it. The app was one of the first posts I made for my blog lol
We were talked about, but not officially present! Thanks for blogging about us - every bit of promotion helps the project grow. But ehm, if you have any particular ideas for getting rid of the rough edges in the UI, don't hesitate to chip in as well! (Either here or on our forum) 😉
And for those reading along, here is the blog post in question: https://joelchrono12.ml/blog/antenna-podcasts/
I would love to make this the first open source app to which I contribute because I use it so often! I have some ideas for features I would like to see implemented myself, but I'm not sure what is the best way to start helping. I'll start reading first :)
Keep up the good work!
We would be honoured to be the first project you contribute to. And remember: contributions can also be in other forms than code.
Whatever you're up to: do check in with the community on our forum: https://forum.antennapod.org There surely will be people happy to discuss and help you get started 💪
@humanetech Support for #ActivityPub has been mentioned in the context of podcast comments (https://forum.antennapod.org/t/possibly-a-way-to-get-podcast-comments/224) - something that's being discussed also in the #podcasting20 community (https://podcastindex.social). And there's potential aside commenting, but no concrete ideas or discussions as of yet.
In two weeks we have a #hackathon - if there's interest from our community and ActivityPub experts/enthusiasts, we would be happy to set up a discussion to explore the options.
@avolkov That's very kind to say!
Just FYI: There's no plans on getting a second home - we're quite happy where we are 🙃 Also, it's a hassle to become a good home-owner in two places: we'd need to rebuild from scratch all the furniture we currently have to make it work in both environments. That's a lot of work and we (currently) don't have the community to make that happen. But never say never.

@AntennaPod Thanks for all your hard effort. AntennaPod has to be one of my most used apps this year
A warm welcome! Just love your podcast app, it is one of those rare apps, that serve one purpose and serve it damn well!
1. There is no valid TLS certificate for the www. subdomain you link to in your Bio
2. If you add rel="me" to the link to your Mastodon account on your website, it will be displayed as verified (with a blue tick), making it easier to spot your account as official
Thanks for the kind words!
The rel="me" tag is there, but we're having indeed some issues with the certificate. We're working on it - hopefully fixed tonight.
I've just wrote a post today about how I switched from PodcastAddict to AntennaPod and here you are 🙂
What a good coincidence. And welcome!
@skobkin Ahh, nice. Interested in sharing a link to your blog post with us? Might be interesting for other users as well!
@AntennaPod a quick ui feature wish: when clicking the New tab of the Episode view (and I'm already there), it should jump to the beginning of the episode list :)
